TRIUMPH: Today’s Revolution Is Understanding: Make Peace Happen
תכנית הטריומף הוקמה לפני כשבע שנים ביוזמת מועדון רוטרי חיפה, על בסיס שיתוף פעולה בין מועדוני רוטרי בקליפורניה וחיפה. עיקרי התכנית איתור תלמידים ותלמידות, ערבים ויהודים, אשר להם תכונות מנהיגות, והנחייתם בסדנאות בארץ ובחו"ל בכל הקשור להכרת התרבויות השונות, סובלנות, קבלת האחר וכו'. במהלך שבע השנים האחרונות יצאו לחו"ל משלחות טריומף במתכונות שונות.
באוגוסט 2011 התגבשה משלחת נוספת בת 12 משתתפים, ביוזמת מועדון רוטרי חיפה ובשיתוף בית הגפן ועירית חיפה. משתתפיה היו תלמידים ותלמידות בעלי תכונות מנהיגות וכן בעלי כמיהה לדו קיום בין העמים והכרת האחר. את מחציתה היוו תלמידים ותלמידות ערבים מוסלמים ונוצרים מבתי ספר ערבים ברחבי חיפה ומחציתה תלמידים ותלמידות יהודים מבי"ס ליאו בק בחיפה.טרם יציאת המשלחת נערכו בארץ סדנאות משותפות על מנת להכין את התשתית לשהייה משותפת במחנה רונדינה אשר באיטליה. למשלחת התלוו מדריכה יהודיה מבית הגפן ומדריך ערבי נוצרי. לאחר עשרה ימי שהות ברונדינה איטליה, ופעילות אינטנסיבית בכל הנושאים הקשורים לסובלנות, קבלת האחר, הכרת התרבויות השונות והידוק הקשרים, ועם חזרתם ארצה, הקימו חברי המשלחת מועדון יהודי ערבי בשם"תכלס"אשר הבסיס לפעילותו היווה תכנים אומנותיים. מועדון זה קיבל את חסותם של מועדון רוטרי חיפה ובית הגפן אשר סייעו בהקמת המועדון ובמימון פעילותו. עם הזמן התרחב מעגל המשתתפים ולפעילות המועדון הצטרפו נערים ונערות ערבים ויהודים, אשר לא השתתפו במשלחת טריומף. יחד הינם פועלים לקידום ההבנה הבין עדתית ולגיבוש הדו קיום הערבי יהודי.
במהלך שנת 2012 החליטה ועדת הטריומף הפועלת מתוך מועדון רוטרי חיפה להמשיך ולשתף פעולה עם מנכ"ל בי"ס ליאו בק, נ.ל. דני פסלר ממועדון רוטרי חיפה, ולאמץ את המלצתו לחבור לארגון "Friends forever " מיסודם של מועדוני רוטרי באזור צפון New England אשר בארה"ב, ארגון אשר צבר ניסיון רב בהקניית ערכי דו קיום וסובלנות כלפי תרבויות שונות.
משלחת "Triumph-Friends forever "מנתה 10 תלמידים ותלמידות. מחציתם יהודים מבי"ס ליאו-בק ומחציתם ערבים מוסלמיםמכפר-עין מאהל השוכן בסמוך לעיר נצרת. סדנאות גיבוש המשלחת נערכו בבית ספר התיכון בעין-מאהל ובבי"ס התיכון ליאו-בק, והן תורגלו ע"י מדריכה יהודיה מבית הגפן אשר ליוותה את משלחות טריומף הקודמות ועל ידי מורה ערבי לאנגלית מבי"ס תיכון עין-מאהל, אשר אף הוא צבר ניסיון רב בעבר במשלחות דומות.
בתחילת יולי 2012 יצאה המשלחת לשבועיים בארה"ב בליווי המורה לאנגלית מביה"ס תיכון עין-מהל ובליווי מורה לפסיכולוגיה מבית ספר תיכון ליאו-בק.
את חברי המשלחת אירחו רוטוריונים אשר פינו את ביתם לצורך אירוח הקבוצה וכן מועדוני רוטרי באזור אשר פעלו במשותף עם ארגון ""Friends foreverחברי הרוטרי שהינם גם חברי הארגון, דאגו למימון עלות השהיה בארה"ב ולכל מחסורם של חברי המשלחת וכן להוצאה לפועל של תכנית יסודית, רצינית וערכית אשר ניכר שהושקעו בה זמן ומחשבה רבים. התכנית כללה בין השאר סדנאות, ביקורים בבית אבות, מעון לילדים מוגבלים, שמורה אינדיאנית וכן הרצאות באוניברסיטת הארוורד בתכנים רלוונטיים למהות המשלחת. מועדוני הרוטרי בסביבה אירחו את התלמידים אשר נאמו בפניהם על נושאים הקשורים לחיים המשותפים של יהודים וערבים בישראל והחליפו את דגלוני המועדונים עם דגלון מועדון רוטרי חיפה.
לקראת אמצע יולי חזרה המשלחת לארץ להמשך פעילות ומפגשים בין חברי המשלחת לבין חברי מועדון "תכלס" בחיפה. בימים הקרובים יחגגו במשותף חברי המשלחת ובני משפחתם, את חג הרמאדאן. בעקבות מפגש זה, אנו מתכננים מפגשים רבים ונוספים אשריתקיימו בעין מאהל, בי"ס ליאו-בק, מועדון רוטרי חיפה ובית הגפן.
לקראת תחילת שנת הלימודים הקרובה, צפויים חברי המשלחת להשתתף במחזמר יהודי ערבי, "Step By Step", מיזם של בי"ס ליאו בק. התלמידים אמורים להחליף משתתפים ותיקים במחזה זה ולהמשיך להופיע עימו ברחבי העולם ובארץ, כפי שנעשה בשנת הלימודים הקודמת. ועדת הטריומף תחל בעתיד הקרוב להכין את המשלחת הבאה אשר צפויה לצאת בקיץ 2013 ותמשיך ללוות את חברי משלחות טריומף בעבר ובעתיד בפעילות ההמשך בארץ.

TRIUMPH: Today’s Revolution Is Understanding: Make Peace Happen
The Triumph project was started about seven years a at the initiative of the Rotary Club of Haifa, on a foundation of cooperation between Rotary clubs in Haifa and California. The core of the project is the identification of Arab and Jewish students, boys and girls, who possess leadership characteristics, and training them in workshops in Israel and abroad, which are focused on learning about different cultures, tolerance, acceptance of the other, and the like. During the last seven years Triumph delegations have travelled abroad in various configurations.
In August 2011, anothergroup of 12 participants was formed at the initiative of the Rotary Club of Haifa and with the cooperation of BeitHagefenand the Haifa Municipality. The members of the group were students with leadership characteristics as well as a special interest inco-existence between peoples and learning about the other. Half of them were Muslim and Christian Arabs from Arabic-language schools from all over Haifa, and the other half were Jewish students from the Leo Baeck School in Haifa. Before traveling, joint workshops were organized in Israel to lay a foundation for dialogue at Rondine Camp in Italy. The group was accompanied by a female Jewish guide from BeitHagefen and a male Christian Arab guide. After ten days of intense activity and dialogue at Rondine, Italy, on all the subjects related to tolerance, acceptance of the other, learning about different cultures and strengthening bonds of friendship, the members of the group returned home and set up a Jewish-Arab club called “Takhless”, whose activity would be focused on artistic contents. This club received sponsorship from the Rotary Club of Haifa and BeitHagefen, which assisted in the establishment of the club and the funding of its activities. Over time, the circle of participants widened as other Arab and Jewish youth, who had not been part of the Triumph group, joined in the activities of the club. Together they work to advance inter-communal understanding and develop Arab-Jewish co-existence.
During 2012, the Triumph Committee functioning within the Rotary Club of Haifa decided to continue the cooperation with the director-general of Leo Baeck School, Danny Fessler, Past President of the Haifa Rotary Club, and to adopt his recommendation of partnering with the “Friends Forever” organization, established by Rotary clubs in Northern New England in the United States, which has accumulated much experience in teaching values of co-existence and tolerance vis-à-vis other cultures.
A Triumph-Friends Forever group was formed with ten students, half of them Jews from Leo Baeck School and half Muslim Arabs from the Village of EinMahel located near Nazareth. Workshops to prepare the group were held at the High School in EinMahel and at the Leo Beck High School and conducted by a female Jewish guide from BeitHagefen who had accompanied earlier Triumph groups and by an Arab English teacher from the EinMahelHigh School, who also had considerable past experience with similar groups.
In early July, this group spent two weeks in the United States accompanied by the English teacher from the EinMahelHigh School and a psychology teacher from the Leo BaeckHigh School.
The members of the group were housed by Rotarians who moved out of their home to host the group and also by the Rotary clubs in the area, who worked together with the “Friends Forever” organization. Rotarians who are also members of the organization paid for the cost of the stay in the United States and all the needs of the group members and also the expense of carrying out a very through, serious and rich program, in which it is clear that they invested much time and thought. This program included, among other things, workshops, visits to a home for the aged, an institute for disabled children, and an Indian reservation, as well as lectures at Harvard University, on matters relevant to the purpose of the group. Rotary clubs in the area invited the students, who addressed them on subjects related to the shared life of Jews and Arabs in Israel, and gave themtheir clubs’ pennantsin exchange for the pennant of the Rotary Club of Haifa.
Around mid-July, the group returned to Israel to continue activities and gatheringsbetween its members and the members of the “Takhless” Club in Haifa. In the coming days, the members of the group and their families will celebrate together the feast of Ramadan. After this event, we are planning many additional gatherings to be held at EinMahel, at Leo Baeck School, the Rotary Club of Haifa and at BeitHagefen.
Before the beginning of the school year, group members are expected to participate in the Jewish-Arab musical show “Step by Step”, an initiative of Leo Baeck School. The students are supposed to replace older participants in this play and continue to perform it all over the world and in Israel, as was done in the previous school year.
The Triumph Committee will soon start preparing the next group for its trip in the summer of 2013, while continuing to accompany the members of past and future Triumph groups in their follow-up activities in Israel.
